Debina Bonnerjee, last seen on SAB TV’s Chidiya Ghar, has been on work hiatus for a month now and during this phase she spent some quality time with her husband actor Gurmeet Choudhary in Cape Town.

As reported in the media, Gurmeet has bagged a three movie deal with Vishesh Films and is shooting for their first project in Cape Town.

The actress left for the foreign location on 19 October and returned to India on 1 November 2014, though her husband wanted her to be around.

“As much as I like staying around Guru I also like my country. I can’t stay in a foreign place for too long unless it’s work. This time I was all free and trust me, when I can go to a mall in Mumbai thousand times my fourth visit to a mall there bored me to death. Moreover I was missing ghar ka khana. I love Indian food,” confesses Debina.

The artist further went on to add that she enjoyed being in Cape Town the most in the initial days this time – given the fact she was there for Khatron Ke Khiladi earlier. “People kept telling me that Cape Town is beautiful but I never found it beautiful during the Khatron days. Every beautiful location seemed scary for we had to perform task one after the other. This time it was beautiful for I was there just to see the place. It was also nostalgic for Guru kept reminding me of the stunts that we performed at various locations there. Even now he keeps sending me pictures of places that we’ve performed stunts, when he visits them.”

Isn’t she missing Gurmeet? “I am but I finally have the time to be with my girlfriends. Since Guru and I make it a point to be with each other when we are not at work I used to run back home on receiving a call from him post his shoot and he’d do the same. This has now become a joke in our friend’s circle. In fact, my friends also earlier complained about me not giving them time. Luckily that has now reduced. I am there for them these days.”

When do you plan to get back to work? “One month break is a long break for a TV actor hence, I’d be returning soon. I have been meeting people.”

What sort of a role you’d like to play this time? “I have essayed two extreme characters in the past -Sita, who was all quiet and giving and Mayuri, who was extremely crazy. So, this time I’d like to play the girl next door. And I am sure it will be a cake walk for me.”

We wish you luck with that Debina.
