In the day and age of gimmicky shows and unique episodics, here’s a simple sitcom that has wowed us all for close to a decade! It’s one of the longest running shows on television right now, and rightly so. SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (Neela Telefilms) has been garnering praises from audiences and critics alike. Most people want to unwind to this show after a hard, long at work. There’s pretty good reason why! We tell you why this show still matters…Read on:

Ensemble cast:

TMKOC’s cast is distinct with a variety of characters, dealing with issues that range from silly to sophisticated. One of the reasons we love watching the show is due to the colourful cast. Whether it’s Jethalal Gada’s epic problems, his sweet flirtation with neighbour Babita or his arguments with Bhide, there’s always something interesting happening on the show. If you get tired of a certain story arc, you can always focus on the other and so on. It gives you time to pick and choose your favorite cast member.

Everyday problems:

The show mainly focuses on our everyday problems, hence the instant connect with the characters. The way they tackle their issues inspires us too. That’s why the show is so widely appreciated by the entire nation. Because we want to laugh our worries away and if we can take away moral values from it…awesome, isn’t it? From the nuisance created by the children to the problems arising out of a joint family, the show deals with myriad issues.

Chemistry among the group:

They all share a wonderful bond and a crackling chemistry, which makes us love the show even more. We know that despite their issues, they will be there for one another. And in this day and age, we need such a show for sure. Even though Jetha and Bhide share a love-hate relationship, they do stand up for each other when needed. What’s ever more amazing is that the show doesn’t resort to regressive ideas of women being inferior. In fact, most episodes drive home the point that women can achieve a lot more than their male counterparts.

All age groups can watch:

Unlike the saas-bahu sagas and the teeny love stories, this is a show that every age group can watch and enjoy. While kids love watching the ‘Tappu Sena’ and their antics, adults love watching the Bhides and Gadas’ fights and arguments. It’s a win-win for all, eh? Due to the clean plot and no-nonsense plot, the show can be watched by the entire family without running for the remote after every scene. With almost every serial including a kiss scene and a love making one, it’s such a relief to have a show like this.

Tell us why you love this show? Is it because of the cast or the characters? Or is it the ever evolving script? May be it’s the high-profile actors who come to promote on the show? Let us know…
