In conversation with us, Toral talks about taking up acting, replacing Pratysha Banerjee and more…

Let’s see what she has shared –

How did you thought of getting into acting?

I never thought of getting into acting because none of my relatives or friends belong from this industry. I always wanted to become an air hostess because I love traveling. Basically I am more inclined towards dancing as I am a classical dancer and used to do many stage shows and all. But my mother wanted me to go for acting and she told me that lets click your picture and let’s give it a try.

I remember I did my first advertisement when I was in standard 8 or 9. Then I took break as it was my boards. Later there were auditions going on for the show on Disney channel and they already had shot their pilot but there were some changes in their characters.

So I went to give an audition and within overnight I was selected and next day they called me for the make over of a school going girl as that time I was in my third year. This is how my journey started and touch wood it hasn’t stopped till now as I kept on doing something or the other back to back.

How do you feel after getting so much of recognition through Balika Vadhu?

I have got recognition from Balika Vadhu as I didn’t get much exposure from my other shows, I feel great and there are mixed emotion when people recognize me, come to me to click photos and take autographs. But when I am without make and wear my spectacles, I look very different and people don’t recognize me then. But yes I have got lots of appreciation and recognition after Balika Vadhu and it feels great that people like your work and character, what else an actor wants.

You stepped into Pratyusha’s shoes so how has the response been?

People took time to accept me because Pratyusha made a mark and people appreciated Pratyusha for her character. So it was a very big challenge for me as it was a very big show, and was also a number one show, there were many senior actors acting in the show. The show this is running from past five years and suddenly there is a replacement of such a major character, it is a very big thing for a channel, production, show and for all.

So responsibilities and expectations where high and I was very nervous because I was under pressure that will I be able to live up to the expectations of the audiences or not and for the people who have trusted me for this role.

I remember during the initial days, I used to get nervous looking at the scenes that will I be able to do it or not. Every person has their own way to read the script, enact and accordingly but when you replace someone, people get used to the old person and will find the quality of replaced person in you. So there was a need to get step into the shoes of Pratyusha and that was the biggest challenge for me. But now they have accepted me as it has been three and a half years.

You have done two Rajasthani shows back to back Kesariya Balam Aavo Hamare Des and Balika Vadhu, so what other kind of role would you like to take up?

I would like to be a part of a show projecting love story or else I would like to play some urbanized character because I am mostly seen in traditional avatar as daily soaps go on till two to three years where you have to be in the same get up.

We wishes all the best to Toral Rasputra all the best for her bright future.
