Leaps have been the tried and tested ‘plus’ sure shot formula for a sure hit show. If the makers hit a snag in the story line, they resort to a leap. A leap also gives the makers the liberty to tweak the storyline to their liking. They can introduce new characters and kill the old ones and do what not.

In our ‘BestOf2016’ features marathon, we have listed down the top leaps that took place in shows this year.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein : The show witnessed not one but two leaps in the gap of one year. The first leap saw the separation of Ishita and Raman with the latter thinking that Ishita has died. The leap also set the track moving ahead with a grown up Ruhi hating Ishita. The track then progressed to a 1 year leap where Raman and Ishita faked a separation to get back their biological daughter Pihu back from Shagun after she turned the former against Ishita.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai : The show took a 5 year leap this year and the story moved to a teenage Naira who had run away from home and was staying in Rishikesh. The show then went on to present how Akshara brought Naira back home, how she adjusted with the families and how she made amends with Akshara. The story gained momentum after this and the audience got to see how Naira fell in love, got her father Naitik back and also how she eventually lost her mother Akshara.

Saath Nibhana Saathiya : After Ahem’s death, the show took a leap of 4 years where the viewers witnessed the extreme shock that turned Gopi’s life upside down. She did not speak for 4 years (yes it sounds absolutely absurd). A new family is introduced and Kokila, in a bid to save Gopi, marries her off to Krishna. But turns out that Krishna is the bad guy and is the brother of Mansi, Ahem’s ex. The family tortures Gopi and to save her, Kokila arranges for Ahem’s lookalike Jaggi to step in and save her.

Jamai Raja : Jamai Raja took a leap of 20 years where the storyline shifted to the leads Siddharth and Roshni’s child Satya which was played by Ravi Dubey again. And paired opposite him was Shiney Ahuja, who played Mahi, Neil and Ria’s daughter. Their love story soon started to materialize and garnered the audience’ interest. But viewers still miss the chemistry of Sid and Roshni.

Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki : Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki ws a show based on the concept of reincarnation. The epic love story of Rishi and Tanu was left incomplete when Tanu sacrificed her life for Rishi. Tanu has now been reincarnated as Tanuja and gets married to Rishi under Raaj’s insistence. Rishi and Tanuja’s love hate relationship has started to materialize and will soon turn into undying love, obviously not without going through hurdles.
